The session will offer practical strategies for integrating these diverse stories into preschool classrooms, enhancing cultural appreciation and understanding among young learners. Shalom Curriculum Project - Early Childhood Educational Play Materials that Portray Jewish Diversity
Tuesday November 12, 2024 10:45am - 12:00pm EST
Diversity in early childhood educational and play materials fosters inclusivity, empathy, and understanding. It allows children to see themselves, learn about the world, and appreciate differences from an early age. Shalom Curriculum Project is a new program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison that is working to bring diversity in early childhood educational and play materials to the Jewish community. We are creating early childhood materials for a future curriculum that will use books, music and dolls to celebrate the beauty and historical significance of racial and ethnic diversity in the Jewish community. Part of our work is convening educators, families, scholars, and community members to share early prototypes and discuss the need for our work, as well as ways to engage families and educators across communities
